Just got here via CIVA. It looks very good and I need some time to take it all in. Like yourself I am a protestant but interested in the visual arts. Outside of Rookmaaker and Schaeffer there isn’t much out there in thee way of critique (that I know of). Most written material tends to come from Catholic or liberal perspectives (which often have much to commend them), but don’t really address the issues as I see them. So I trust this works out – I will take time to get up to date with the articles on here….
Hi there–have you checked out Prof. William Dyrness’ work? He is from Fuller Seminary and there is a lot going on with Arts and Theology there, and at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C.
So glad to discover your blog. The intersection of art and theology is my love too, and there seem to be few voices interested in that conversation. Looking forward to seeing how your work develops.

Today is actually, literally, my birth / day. That is why I am celebrating with a revisit to e.e. cummings.
I am reposting your writing (if you don’t mind) on my brand-new web page, where I am (bravely, I hope) beginning to post some of the work I developed for UUA sermons over the last decade or so. You are of a younger generation, but your mind, your thoughts, your aspirations…they are all so meaningful to me. My faith is strengthened, as I enjoy peoples works, to know that our Creator gave us the gift of art (in various forms) to reflect His glory to the rest of the world and through art communicate in a beautiful way what it means to have been created “in His image”

Hi Victoria! I am so happy to find your blog and learn more about how God is mysteriously and wondrously revealed through Art & Theology. All you are doing is inspiring and I appreciate all the resources. I just gave my daughter Mary Oliver’s Devotions and she loves it–she is drawing pictures and writing Scripture on the pages. I am also a CIVA member and studied at Regent College; I hope our paths cross one day. My blog is on Art & Spiritual Formation, with an emphasis on Communion. Hello Victoria. Thank you immensely for lifting up baba Olatunji and his work ” Bethlehemu”.It was beautifully rendered. I equally appreciate your display of arts from my home-Yorubaland. Yes, Fr. Carol did a lot to promote Yoruba culture. God bless him.
I would like to encourage you with some of my new and original Compositions (Yoruba Christmas songs) should your choir need any. They are all scored in 4 parts and the sheet music is a free gift from me.

Have you considered working with Sojourners Magazine, to also reach a print audience? I think you would add an interesting voice to their outreach. The journey of Lent will be hard this year, the effort will yield much to those who persevere.

I was talking to someone at the library today about your blog, and said, “They come up with such interesting things…” and then I suddenly wondered who “they” are. So, as soon as I got home I checked here to see who is doing this. This blog is so professional and so well-researched I just assumed it was a big team of people working on it! (by comparison, I have a blog about biblical art and feel good about my progress if I can publish a new article every month!) Anyway, I just wanted to say you are doing a magnificent job sharing such an amazing variety of “interesting things”, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU.
